I am taking my blog into a different approach this week. Instead of the typical talk about animals I’m going to tell a little bit about myself, and then end it for good.

First off, I’m from a small town in Minnesota located right off I-94. I go to school here in Albany and am currently in my Junior year of High School. I wrote this blog for an English class that I’m taking and am now at the end of the quarter. So, with that being said this is my last blog on my page.

I started with the intent of writing all about animals. Good and Bad. My favorite ones to write about were the ones I had connections with. Animals like dogs, cats, cows and mice were all really fun to write about because I used my personal experience to tell a story and give background knowledge about that topic. I feel now as if I should of wrote something with a little more meaning like different stories about animals. They might be like the Australian Wild Fires killing and endangering millions of animals. There are lot’s of different topics I could have found, but that’s just an idea I had. Either way I’m still proud of myself for sticking it out this long. It took a lot of thinking to come up with all the ideas, and I really like the end result of my blog.

Thanks for looking over and commenting on my blog. It’s been great!

christmas

I’m taking a break from the normal animal posts. Yea. I know I could have talked all about Reindeer, but I’m not really interested in them nor do I think that they are interesting. So, here it goes.

Christmas break can’t come fast enough. The amount of math problems Ms. Bruns has been giving out lately is unbearable. I’m sure it would help if I actually knew what I was doing, but I don’t. At least she gives us a lot of odd problems! It will take me a while, but I’m sure I’ll get them done.

When break finally starts in a few hours it’s going to be so nice. I love the holiday season, but I’m kind of wishing it wouldn’t almost be over. As much as I love Christmas and the Holiday break, I also love the time leading up to it. It’s so festive and really gets you into the spirit. I just wish it wasn’t ending so fast.

I know we all like the break, but the amount of food you eat and all the gifts you receive is great too. Even though I don’t always like all the food that my family cooks during the holidays, I’m still grateful that they made the effort.(;

As much as I like receiving the gifts, I also enjoy giving gifts. Something about the way the person looks when they open your gift makes you feel good inside. I think that’s what the holidays are about.

I sure hope everyone has a great time on break. I can’t wait for it to start!

mice

So, I am very afraid of mice or anything along the lines of one. Even hearing people talk about them creeps me out. I especially get terrified when one runs across the floor or I see one hiding behind something. They are so small yet so scary to me.

I don’t get what makes them so scary. Some people think they’re cute as a button, and I can’t even stand to look at them. It’s terrifying to me that some people would have them as a pet. I don’t like seeing them outside, so I would definitely be mad if I chose to have them in my house.

There was one time many, many years ago when I saw a mouse run across our basement floor. I booked it up the stairs and told my parents, but of course they didn’t believe me. So I made them drive to town and buy some mouse traps because I was so scared of the mouse. I wanted to prove that I was right, but also I wanted it gone. So we got the traps and set them, but nothing was ever in them until one day. My older sister came running up the stairs and said, “I think Abbey was right. I just saw a mouse run across the floor.” So of course I was freaking out because there was indeed a mouse in our house. I sat on the couch with my dog because of course I didn’t want the mouse to get him. I know what you’re thinking. Why was she being so dumb. So my siblings and dad ended up catching the mouse by stepping on it, but I’m not kidding you I didn’t go down in our basement for a solid two weeks after this took place.

chicks

Every spring my family orders around fifty chicks. We raise them for a few months and then bring them in to get butchered. This may sound harsh but afterall, it is the life of a chicken.

My favorite part about them is when they are just days old. They are so cute and especially soft. Their smooth yellow coat along with their little chick face makes them look so adorable. Holding them is even better. Even though sometimes they want to jump out of your hands. They are so soft and gentle, and not to mention warm and cuddly as well. It’s my favorite when my dad brings home the freshly hatched baby chicks.

Not long after we bring them home, their feathers begin to change and their little bodies get a lot bigger. I think they’re ugly at this time because of the way they look. They have some white feathers and some yellow. Some have missing feathers or not many feathers at all. This is probably my least favorite time with them.

When they grow older and have gotten substantially larger, they are ready to be butchered. Most times I get really sad because I don’t want them to go. Even though it’s normal, I still don’t like when they leave. Although I do like eating chicken so it’s worth it in the end.

cows

I think calves are super cute. They’re so little and have adorable little faces. They’re especially cute when they are first born. They are tiny and so soft. They have little fuzzy ears and sparkling eyes looking into the distance lost in time. They’ve just come into the world and don’t really know what to think.

I personally like the black and white calves. Although the brown ones are cute too, they just are not as adorable for me. I think the brown ones can be more stubborn at times too, but sometimes when they are stubborn, it makes them that much cuter. So overall, if I had to pick which kind I like better I would definitely go with the black and white.

cats

Some people love them, and some not so much. Cats can be nice to have, and not nice to have. When they are cute, cuddly and playful, they are a good thing. But when there ornery and have a mind of their own, they tend to be disliked. Personally, they are not my favorite. I’ve never owned a cat but I have interacted with them, and I didn’t enjoy it. They liked to hiss at me or even run away. What good is having a cat if it won’t even come by you. But on the other hand, they do play with you if they’re tame and won’t hiss or run away.

Some cats are cute and others are not. Hairless ones are absolutely gross. I can’t imagine touching one. Even thinking about them grosses me out. I don’t know why someone would ever want one because it looks like a rat, but maybe they like them.

Although I don’t like cats, some people do. Yea, I think some of them are cute, but most of the time I’m grossed out by them. Some of them have really thick fur which isn’t always clean, and it feels kind of gross. Others do have nice fur that is clean which isn’t so bad. So if I really wanted to get a cat (which I don’t) I would probably get one that has nice fur and a cute color.

puppies

I love dogs, and this cute puppy looks a lot like mine. They are so cute and full of energy. Except for my dog. He is getting kind of old and doesn’t like to do much. He’d rather lay around all day and do nothing. He is still super cute though. My favorite part is when I wake him up at night to go outside. He barks really loud and get’s really nervous, but I think it’s so cute.

One of his favorite things is his bone. It’s a little over sized for his mouth, but he still loves it. He constantly protects it and will get super mad if you take it or hide it.

He also likes to run around outside, but not for a long time because he’d rather go inside and lay on the couch!

I love laying around with him and love seeing his cute little face everyday.
